A PROPOSED AIA SAN DIEGO EXPERIENCE

Inspired by Ice

An AIA Expedition
to the Edge of the Map

An extraordinary landscape.
A shared exploration.
A new perspective.

Explore the possibilities
Watercolor interpretation of Antarctic mountains and sculptural blue ice

An immense intersection
of light and design.

Sculpted layers of white ice beside an immense blue Antarctic ice wall
Ice draws the lines. Light reveals the structure.Through Justin’s Lens

Across Antarctica, blue ice holds the light and glaciers draw the horizon. Wind, water and time carve immense walls, arches and fractured planes. Reflection and refraction give frozen water a luminous presence, while every surface records a continent in motion.

Imagine encountering this landscape alongside fellow architects and design-minded travelers aboard an intimate Atlas luxury yacht. Beyond the landings and extraordinary wildlife, there is space to sketch, exchange observations and consider how the transient, crystalline qualities of frozen water might find expression in the places and objects we create.

Travel to the edge of the map.
Bring home a new possibility.

01 / THE VALUE OF GOING TOGETHER

An extraordinary experience.
A tangible member benefit.

A journey can give AIA members something remarkable to share, preferred pricing to make it more compelling, and a meaningful way to support the chapter.

I.

Preferred member pricing.

The Expedition Table’s negotiated group fares can put selected expeditions below public pricing. Our February 2028 Veranda illustration shows a difference of $2,642 per guest, after applying Atlas’ $1,000 air-credit promotion to the supplied public fare.

Explore the member savings
II.

Value for the chapter.

Eligible bookings can generate cash for AIA, help fund chapter hosts, or combine both. AIA chooses the balance that serves its community, with the proposed 3%–5% chapter share adding value as the group grows.

Explore the chapter benefit
III.

Inspiration that lasts.

Time together turns acquaintances into relationships. A sketch, a conversation or a quality of light could become the beginning of a design—and a story shared with the wider AIA community.

Imagine what comes next

A LANDSCAPE. A SPARK. SOMETHING ENTIRELY YOUR OWN.

How might Antarctica
move you?

A pavilion that captures the shifting light of an iceberg. A sculptural chair inspired by fractured ice. A gathering space that translates Antarctica’s extraordinary scale into something intimate.

A natural arch carved into blue Antarctic ice above a turquoise inlet
A doorway carved by time.Through Justin’s Lens

Inspired by Ice could become a creative thread connecting the expedition with the wider AIA community:

IMAGINE

A design challenge

Travelers translate their observations into an architectural concept, interior, piece of furniture or lighting design.

SHARE

A chapter exhibition

Sketches, photographs and finished concepts come home to San Diego for a shared celebration.

CELEBRATE

A juried competition

AIA could select a jury and invite sponsors to support prizes—or help bring a winning concept to life.

These are starting points. Together, we can shape an experience around what excites AIA’s members and supports the chapter’s goals. Participation in the creative program would be entirely optional.

Observe and exchange ideas at sea; develop the work after returning. Any brief, jury, exhibition or sponsor participation would be shaped with AIA.

02 / REAL POTENTIAL. A FLEXIBLE BENEFIT.

Support the chapter.
Or bring its leaders along.

We propose directing the earned Tour Conductor credits to AIA, plus a 3% or 5% share of qualifying cruise fares as the group grows. Explore the two ways to use that value.

Paying travelers
How AIA uses the benefit

ILLUSTRATIVE CASH BENEFIT TO AIA

$35,833

20 paying travelers · 10 double-occupancy staterooms

Net TC credits, paid as cash$26,235
3% chapter share of eligible cruise fares$9,598

AIA receives the TC value as cash instead of applying it to hosted travelers. This is an illustration, not a revenue guarantee.

How the chapter share works: 6–10 eligible staterooms: 3% of commissionable cruise fares. 11+ eligible staterooms: 5%. The base tier of five staterooms earns TC benefits but no incremental share.

How TC value works: one credit per nine qualifying full-fare guests, up to two. TC value excludes taxes and is reduced by the full applicable commission. The 3%–5% chapter share is shown separately; commission is not deducted from that share a second time.

Calculation details and terms

All scenarios use the February 3, 2028 agreement, a $15,997 per-person B2 Veranda cruise fare, double occupancy and no additional discounts. The $660 per-person government taxes and fees are excluded from TC and chapter-share calculations. The actual mix of categories and eligible bookings changes the result.

TC valuation follows the predominant eligible non-suite category; a tie uses the lower category. Suite treatment and current category-code mapping require supplier confirmation. Full commission rates used in the model are 15%, 18% and 20% by eligible stateroom tier. Maximum two TC credits; larger groups do not earn unlimited free travelers.

In the hosted option, the selected traveler count means paying guests; chapter hosts are additional. Commission tiers conservatively count paying staterooms. TC credit is applied against the illustrated host cruise fare; any balance and taxes are shown separately. No commission or chapter share is earned on free host fares in this model.

Contracted pricing initially covers up to 15 staterooms before Atlas review. Larger scenarios require expanded group approval. Lower promotional individual fares may preserve amenities but do not qualify for additional commission or TC. TC credits are earned no earlier than 45 days before departure and paid approximately 30 days before departure, subject to qualification and reconciliation.

These are proposed chapter contributions, not a signed AIA partnership or a promise of net profit. Chapter expenses, separate sponsorship revenue and optional extension income are not included.

A PLACE TO THINK TOGETHER

Bring the field notes
to the stage.

Atlas’ auditorium hosts lectures, demonstrations and destination insights. On Polar Expeditions, the expedition team uses daily briefings to explore the highlights of the journey.

For AIA, imagine an informal design salon, a member presentation or a conversation about the light, structures and materials encountered that day. At twenty or more guests, Justin can arrange presentation space with Atlas.

AIA shapes its programming. Space and timing are coordinated with Atlas around the expedition schedule.

06 / THE COMMUNITY IS YOURS. THE DETAILS ARE OUR JOB.

Easy to share.
Easy to join.

AIA can introduce the expedition through a newsletter mention, a website link, social posts or a brief announcement at an existing event. We’ll prepare the copy, imagery and a dedicated AIA expedition page for your approval—ready to share with your community.

Your membership list stays with AIA. Interested travelers come directly to us, and any additional sponsor exposure can be offered as a separate opportunity with its own value.

How this fits the documented sponsorship benefits

Silver lists one newsletter feature, one website feature and one calendar event. Gold lists two newsletter features, up to two website features and three calendar listings. Platinum lists four newsletter features, up to four website features and five calendar listings. Silver, Gold and Platinum list dynamic newsletter banners.

Year-round logo recognition and event materials already sit within the program’s framework. Bronze does not list a dedicated content-feature or banner allocation. The package also allows customized sponsorship discussions.

For this travel partnership, AIA and The Expedition Table would agree a specific placement plan and any sponsor participation. No tier purchase, allocated placement, member-data transfer, sponsor endorsement or onboard commercial signage is assumed.

07 / ONE FLAGSHIP. A PROGRAM WITH ROOM TO GROW.
